# Checkout FAQs

<details>

<summary>Do I need to be on Shopify Plus to test in Checkout?</summary>

Yes, Shopify checkout extensibility and using blocks are only available to Shopify Plus merchants. This is a Shopify limitation, not an Intelligems one.

<details>

<summary>Do Checkout Personalizations have any impact on my Checkout page's load time?</summary>

Intelligems blocks have no impact on your core checkout performance. Intelligems doesn’t interfere with the loading of payment details, shipping forms, or any other critical elements needed for customers to complete their purchase. Blocks load only after the checkout page has been fully initialized, and their load time is driven mostly by the user’s internet connection. Average load time is 248 milliseconds.

<details>

<summary>Can I add both a Trust Badge and an Upsell block to my checkout?</summary>

Yes, you can add multiple of any type of checkout blocks to a Personalization or Test. Create your first block in a test or Personalization, then in the Modifications tab, click + Add another block and add another block.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I add multiple blocks to one Personalization?</summary>

You can add multiple blocks to a single Personalization. All blocks in the Personalization will activate together.

**To add multiple blocks:**

1. Create your first block and save it
2. In your Personalization, click "Add another block"
3. Configure your second block with a different Location ID

</details>

<details>

<summary>How many blocks can I add to my checkout?</summary>

You can add as many blocks as you want to a single Personalization, and create multiple Personalizations. However, we recommend keeping your checkout clean with only the most important messages.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I test these blocks?</summary>

Yes!

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if I change my block in Intelligems?</summary>

Changes to your block design will automatically update on your checkout. You don't need to reconfigure anything in Shopify unless you're changing the Block ID.<br>

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can blocks appear conditionally?</summary>

Yes, you can use Intelligems targeting to show blocks only to specific audiences, countries, devices, or based on other conditions. See more on [targeting](https://docs.intelligems.io/general-features/targeting) here.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Will this work with checkout extensions?</summary>

Yes, Intelligems Checkout Personalizations work alongside other Shopify checkout extensions and apps.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where do the color and typography options come from?</summary>

All colors come from your Shopify checkout brand settings.

**To modify available options:**

1. Go to your Shopify admin
2. Navigate to **Settings** > **Checkout**, and click **Customize** next to your active configuration.
3. Update your checkout brand colors (Primary, Accent, etc.) and typography settings
4. These options will then be available in Intelligems

<summary>Can I see which upsell products customers purchases? How do I filter my Results to see this?</summary>

Yes! You can find out which products were purchased from an upsell. \
\
In the Results tab, select **Products** from the View dropdown in the top left. In the Product-level Detail table you will see columns: Total Upsell Orders, Unit Quantity from Upsell, and Net Product Revenue from Upsell, among other metrics. \
\
You can also click on the Filter icon, and select Filter Orders by Product and then choose Orders with Checkout Upsells.&#x20;

<details>

<summary>What order will checkout upsells be displayed in?</summary>

If you are using Shopify recommendations, products from collection or products with tag, checkout upsells will be returned in best selling order. Have another preference? Let us know [here](https://portal.usepylon.com/intelligems/forms/intelligems-support-request)!&#x20;

<details>

<summary>How do the Shopify recommendations work for upsells?</summary>

Shopify's recommendation API analyzes your store's order history and product relationships (such as collections and tags) to surface relevant products for each shopper based on what is in their cart. Recommendations update automatically as your store data grows.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I exclude products from being displayed as checkout upsells?</summary>

Yes! You can exclude out-of-stock items and products already in the cart. You can also exclude products with a specific tag. For example, if I wanted to display Shopify recommendations, excluding products with the tag "price\_test", I would set up the below:

<summary>How do I style my checkout content differently on mobile vs. desktop?</summary>

Since checkout content styles are configured per Personalization, the way to have different styling on mobile vs. desktop is to create two separate Personalizations — one for each device — and configure them independently.

**Step 1: Create your desktop Personalization**

1. In Intelligems, go to **Personalizations > Checkout** and create your block, styling it for desktop.
2. Before saving, go to the **Audience** targeting settings and filter by device type: select **Desktop**.
3. Complete the Shopify setup, add the block to your Checkout editor, and save in both Shopify and Intelligems.

**Step 2: Create your mobile Personalization**

1. Create a second Personalization with the same block type, this time styling it for mobile.
2. In the **Audience** targeting settings, select **Mobile**.&#x20;
3. If you'd like your Mobile block to go in the same location as your Desktop block, you can use the same Location ID and no further configuration in Shopify is necessary. If you'd like it to be in a different location, add a new Location ID and complete the Shopify setup.&#x20;

**Step 3: Activate both**

Preview each Personalization on the appropriate device to confirm the styling looks right. When ready, activate both — each will only serve to its targeted device type.
